Our community never ceases to amaze me! When times are tough, we truly do come together, we support each other, we fundraise, we check in on our friends and family and we never give up.
This week I participated in Homeless for a week which is an initiative of Base Services. I joined over 150 people who shared a common goal – to raise much-needed funds to support those members of our community who are sleeping rough and need some extra support.
It was cold and confronting but for us it was only one night. It is hard to imagine living on the streets for extended periods but unfortunately, this is the harsh reality for many. Collectively, we were able to raise over $100,000, shed light on homelessness in Toowoomba and show we care. Not even a world health pandemic could stop us!
I am proud to call Toowoomba home. Every day I am inspired by our community’s generosity, strength and compassion – it hasn’t been an easy 6 months for many people but we still show up. Together, we can achieve amazing things!
